    Nicolae was nervous, very nervous. In fact, the boy had never felt such a mix of emotions before it was making him slightly dizzy. He paced the small area he had set up every soft often taking his wand and cleaning the blanket of the cherry blossoms that kept falling. Sierra had assured him that this was the right choice. Not that he had needed much convincing. The idea had been his all along, something he had never before thought he wanted.

    He glanced at his watch every so often wondering when Norah was going to arrive. It wasn’t as if the food was going to get cold, it was a picnic after all. It was just that simply seeing her face was enough to calm his beating heart. He needed to only think about her to relax slightly. Although he had never imagined himself as a father, or with only one woman at such a young age he knew he loved her. It was the only word that could explain his feelings. Why it was, that he had to only hear her name to smile. She was his muse, his inspiration, his reason to be better.

    He didn’t care that his father didn’t approve. He didn’t need anyone to justify what he felt. He only hoped that she felt the same. It had been a few weeks since he had seen her, since his father had forbidden it and his mother wasn’t exactly forthcoming with support either. He had missed her every second of the day, his heart beating only for her and their unborn child.

    It was a wonder to think it, that she was carrying his child. He couldn’t imagine how any man could leave after knowledge of that. He had been scared that he wasn’t ready. The more he thought about it he knew that he was. He couldn’t imagine having things any other way, he didn’t know if he could ever go back. He didn’t want to ever have to find out. He sighed shaking his head, knowing that even if she left him he would always be there, even if it was only in the background.

    He heard a familiar pop and turned around. Instantly all the fear and nerves that had been in the boy disappeared. He didn’t need anything else to know what love was.

Norah closed her eyes, not sure if she was even ready to see Nick again. Of course she wanted to with all of her heart, but she hadn't yet told him about what had happened with his father at the hospital. She had not broken the news that she would be working with a healer in Ireland now, instead of at St. Mungo's. But a private practice would be a good fit for her. She could still learn so much, but she would get to know people on a more personal level. And the best part was, it was far from Caleb Valari and his mind games. But would her boyfriend think she was leaving him? Well, in a way she almost was. She was going to give him space to finish school. And then when he graduated, they could be together, if he still wanted to.

She finished getting ready, wondering if she was dressed too casually. But he hadn't said anything about dressing formally, so she figured she should just be herself. She placed a hand on her stomach, which was still mostly flat. It just looked as if she had eaten a big lunch or something.

"We'll see your daddy soon, little one," she whispered. Merlin, that was strange. Nick would be a wonderful father, but it was still weird to think of him that way yet.

She made sure she had her purse, then she closed her eyes and apparated to the designated spot. Her smile widened, and she couldn't help but forget everything she had meant to say. She only wanted to kiss him and have him hold her in his arms. Norah moved forward smoothly and wrapped her arms around him. She smiled as she kissed him softly, and then she ran her fingers through his hair.

"You look amazing, baby. I missed you."

She wondered if he would be able to see the small curve of her stomach, or taste her cherry lip gloss she had purchased with him in mind. Why was she letting her mind focus on all of these tiny, insignificant details? Maybe it was because she wanted to be absolutely perfect for him, the way he was for her. And he always would be, too. She rested her forehead against his and sighed in contentment.

"A picnic? You have no idea how incredible this all looks, honey. My boyfriend is such a romantic," she said, smiling.
